These adventures are put together for families looking for a different family holiday and are designed with the younger traveller in mind. These adventures include fun and innovative guided interpretation oriented to the interests and educational level of young people. You'll meet local families along the way. The minimum age is generally 10-12 years. Trails are less arduous with more time to enjoy yourselves. Really something worth writing about in the school holiday journal!

These trips require a good level of fitness and there will be help at hand for the younger members. The trekking part of these tours involves up to three to five hours of walking each day at a relaxed pace on variable terrain at low altitude. Each night we stay at a comfortable lodge or camp 'in style' where lodging facilities do not exist, using the best equipment including a spacious and cosy family size tent, and well cushioned mattresses.

This family holiday is designed to offer maximum variety in a limited period, with plenty of not-too-strenuous activity and as many creature comforts as possible. There's everything here, from the fascinating ancient city of Kathmandu, game-watching in the Chitwan National Park to a chance of living with the local family at Bandipur. The highlight is a short trek, with Sherpas and porters, visiting some of the most interesting villages in the Annapurna Foothills.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01:to 2: Kathmandu (1,330m) Arrive in Kathmandu where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The highlight of the evening is a cultural show followed by a traditional dinner at Kathmandu's finest Nepali restaurant. On Day 2, we cross the ages from medieval to modern on our exploration of the legendary city of Kathmandu. Hindu shrines, Buddhist stupas, Tibetan communities and living Goddesses make up our day as we wander the crowded maze of courtyards.
  • Day 03:Kathmandu Take the magnificent mountain flight which takes you over the Himalaya for stunning aerial views of 6 of the world's highest mountains, including Everest (weather permitting. Afternoon walking tour of an old Newari fortress town of Kirtipur (1,435m); walk to mystical Taudaha Lake rich with birdlife; drive to Pharping Buddhist Monasteries (1,405m) and walk to the ancient Hindu temple at Daksinkali to witness an age-old custom of animal sacrifice.
  • Day 04:Pokhara (820m) Take the short but spectacular flight to Pokhara . Nestled in the shadow of the Annapurnas, this delightful lakeside town offers lively cafes, bazaars, temples and panoramic views from the top of nearby Japanese Peace Stupa. Hiring a rowboat to paddle on the lake is also a fantastic way to appreciate the magnificent surrounds.
  • Day 05:to 7: Royal Trek Time to stretch your legs and get a feel for the spectacular Himalayas. Trekking on this quiet but easy trail in the company of Sherpa guides, through terraced fields and villages, with the awesome mountain views in the backdrop will provide an incredible experience. Meeting different families along the way, and camping on the shores of Begnas Lake (630m) will be some of the highlights.
  • Day 08:to 9: Bandipur (1,030m) Short drive to Bandipur. This charming hilltop village is a wonderful place to experience Newari village life and enjoy spectacular views of the Annapurna and Manaslu Ranges. Well off the main tourist track, it is unlikely that you will meet many other travellers here. Here, we explore the local countryside and visit Siddha Gupha, the Himalaya's largest cave.
  • Day 10:to 11: Chitwan (126m) Drive down to Chitwan National Park. Covering almost 1000 sq km area, this is Nepal's most famous park and offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Asia. Accompanied by expert naturalist guides we go on the elephant safari through grasslands and dense forest to stalk tigers, bears and rhinoceroses. Visit a local Tharu village and the elephant stable to learn more about these gentle giants.
  • Day 12:Kathmandu Scenic drive to Kathmandu through river valleys to arrive at early afternoon, leaving the rest of the day to explore more of this legendary city or browse through shops for last minute shopping for souvenirs
  • Day 13:Trip concludes Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
